At the post-Double or Nothing media scrum, CM Punk addressed several missed attempts at the Buckshot Lariat during the match.
Speaking on the matter, Punk said:
“That’s one of those f*cking things. That’s the only time that I’ve missed it since I’ve tried it, and I did it on TV, and I just didn’t hit it for whatever reason, and it sucks. But that’s the fun thing about pro wrestling, I’m more comfortable when sh*t goes f*cking sideways, and not everything needs to look perfect, in my opinion. I’ll probably beat myself up about it way too much, but, you know, mistakes happen.”
Both attempts seemed to go sideways at the frontward flip over the top ring rope that comes before the giant lariat, with both times Punk failing to land impressively, seemingly falling rather than the jumping effect the move is meant to portray.
On the second attempt, CM Punk finished the move by actually landing the lariat portion but the crowd gave a tepid reaction.
CM Punk made history at AEW Double or Nothing becoming the first wrestler to hold the top championship in Ring Of Honor, WWE, and AEW.
