This past Wednesday on AEW Dynamite, we saw the trios of debut of AEW World Champion CM Punk and ROH Tag Team Champions FTR.
It was no secret that there was a lot of respect between the three men, born in part due to their shared love of Bret Hart, and then becoming even more prevalent after Punk’s match with Dax Harwood, and now many fans are calling for them to be a permanent group.
Well if they’re gonna be a permanent group, they’ll probably need a group name, because marketing and stuff.
It seems like they’ve rejected Colten Gunn’s idea of ‘The Bret Hart Weirdos’, and CM Punk appears to have come up with his own suggestion, keeping things pretty simple – CMFTR.
Punk tweeted:
One day I road my schwin bike to some dirt hills I used to jump and ride when I was a kid. When I got there, there were two kids on their bmx bikes. They told me to leave. I didn’t. We scrapped. Black eyes. Bloody lips. Next day and the whole summer we rode bikes TOGETHER. CMFTR
Harwood quoted that tweet, simply writing:
CMFTR MOTHER F**KER
In case you were wondering, no, he didn’t censor it.
‘CMFTR’ picked up the win over Max Caster and Austin & Colten Gunn in the opening match on Dynamite this past Wednesday, which was followed by the announcement that Hiroshi Tanahashi would challenge Punk for the AEW World Title at Forbidden Door on June 26.
