Former WWE Name Shoots On CM Punk Getting Hurt In ‘Every Match He’s In’ AEW

A former WWE name has thoughts on one major barrier to CM Punk being able to connect with his younger peers in the AEW locker room.

On the most recent edition of Wrestling with Freddie, former WWE creative team member and backstage producer Freddie Prinze Jr. continued his commentary regarding All Elite Wrestling and their recent turmoil.

When discussing working with ‘a younger generation’ he referred to difficulty in the general workplace for people in positions of authority to understand millennials as they tend to have a different mindset regarding work.

Going on to expound about why it may be difficult for CM Punk to impress his philosophies onto a much younger AEW locker room, Freddie said:

“If you listen to what CM Punk said in the beginning, he said, I can’t wait to work with this next generation, this young talent out here, and give them the spotlight they need.

“Now he went in there with that intention in mind, but when you see how different that other generation thinks, and what kind of stories they want to tell, and how different it is than what you want to do, and when your body won’t allow you to tell the stories that they told when you were in your prime, and you start getting hurt all the time trying to prove a philosophy, it’s hard for that younger generation to buy into your philosophy even more.

“They’re like, he’s talking about us working and gonna get hurt and he’s hurt every match he’s in.”

Freddie is leaving out the detail that many in AEW roster are even younger than millennials as CM Punk is attempting to sell his philosophy to a decidedly more Gen Z crowd.

CM Punk’s status with AEW remains unofficially confirmed at this time with the company making no direct statement regarding the incident after AEW All Out nor reported suspensions that ensued.

CM Punk is notably injured again after his AEW World Championship match with Jon Moxley, recently having had surgery for his torn tricep.
