CM Punk Injury Update After San Diego Comic-Con

CM Punk Injury Update After San Diego Comic-Con AEW

An injury update has emerged on CM Punk following his recent appearances at the San Diego Comic-Con.

The AEW World Champion hasn’t wrestled since the June 1 edition of Dynamite. He is currently recovering from surgery after picking up a foot injury.

As previously reported, Tony Khan stated that Punk is not behind in his recovery during the Death Before Dishonor post show media scrum.

During a San Diego Comic-Con panel, Punk noted that his foot is still healing after being ‘shattered’ and undergoing surgery. He noted that there is currently no timetable for his return, and that he’s relearning how to walk after surgery.

Per PWInsider, a source working backstage at the SDCC saw a number of AEW talents across the multi-day event, and claimed that it was obvious how much pain CM Punk was in while moving, and saw him icing his foot backstage on multiple occasions.

It was also noted that Punk was wearing a walking boot during the SDCC events.

With Punk out of action, Jon Moxley was crowned the interim AEW World Champion after defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi at Forbidden Door.

Moxley will next defend his gold against RUSH at AEW Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen.
