More details have emerged on an interaction between CM Punk and Kenny Omega that took place following the backstage altercation after AEW All Out 2022.
As has been heavily reported on, a backstage altercation took place after Punk’s verbal tirade at the media scrum following the September 4 pay-per-view.
In addition to CM Punk, several other AEW stars were suspended following the altercation, including EVPs Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson.
Rumors have been swirling regarding a conversation Punk and Omega supposedly had following the incident.
Fightful Select (subscription required) has now shared a big update on CM Punk, shedding more light on this interaction.
The report noted that rumors about a conversation between the two stars days after All Out are false.
Per Fightful, Punk and Omega had a brief interaction immediately following the backstage altercation, with sources indicating that Punk told Omega that his issue wasn’t with him.
Individuals who were around when the incident took place noted that it appeared as if Punk and Omega were going to continue talking, but Ace Steel was still being dealt with at that point.
It was also noted by even those who were closer with CM Punk that Omega was ‘surprisingly composed’ following the altercation.
Fightful noted that while they reached out to both AEW and Punk for comments, neither responded in an official capacity.
