CM Punk Makes First Appearance Since Being Fired By AEW AEW

Tonight (September 15), CM Punk has made his first public appearance since being fired by AEW on September 2.

Punk is resuming his role as a member of the commentary team for Cage Fury Fighting Championships, calling the action for the organization’s 125th card tonight.

There appeared to be at least a slight acknowledgement of the AEW situation, as Punk’s cohost John Morgan said, “We probably have some things to talk about”. He also jokingly said Punk was returning to CFFC “with cause”.

However, Punk simply sarcastically replied: “What is there we could talk about?”.

There was a similar situation last year at CFFC 114, which wasn’t long after the original backstage incident at AEW All Out 2022, as Punk jokingly said back then: “Oh I’m bad news, you don’t want me in the locker room”.

Fast forward to nearly a year later, and Punk has been fired from AEW “with cause” following an incident backstage at AEW All In London 2023, which Tony Khan said made Khan feel his “life was in danger”.

There is still no word on whether Punk has any kind of non-compete clause in place before he can return to wrestling if he decides to do so.
