CM Punk Names Number One Moment Of His Pro Wrestling Career

Punk returned to wrestling with his ‘surprise’ AEW debut on the August 20 edition of AEW Rampage. Opening the show, the former WWE Champion made his entrance in Chicago’s United Center, before telling the wrestling world that he was back.

Speaking with ESPN SportsNation, Punk noted that he still finds the memories of his return a little overwhelming, recalling how AEW essentially filled the United Center on a rumor.

Explaining what made the moment so special, Punk said:

“I definitely think it’s the number one moment of my career,” CM Punk said. “I’ve been fortunate, I ‘ve done a lot of cool things, won titles, sold out buildings, wrestled a lot of big names. But to come back after seven years and have that be the response? It shows you that I think that I left my fingerprints all over the industry.

“I know we cheated a little bit and it was in my hometown, but still, to sell out the United Center on a rumor and to come back and feel that love, it’s pretty incredible. And it’s still a little bit overwhelming to tell you the truth.”

Punk returned to the ring at All Out to face Darby Allin in his first match since January 2014. The star is still undefeated in AEW, most recently teaming with Allin & Sting to defeat FTR & MJF.

The former WWE star also spoke about his wife, AJ Mendez (AJ Lee), and the possibility of her teaming with him in AEW.
