CM Punk has commented on the possibility of AEW introducing a Trios Championship.
During a Revolution pay-per-view media scrum in March, Tony Khan confirmed that he was interested in crowning Trios Champions, potentially in a tournament.
Recent reports that AEW has had the physical belts made has fuelled speculation that this new title will be introduced soon.
A Twitter user suggested that CM Punk and FTR should compete in the potential tournament for the gold, following the trios’ celebration after Punk won the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing.
Punk has since replied:
“Just give us the straps so we don’t have to hurt your favs.”
Punk has a lot of respect for FTR, recently naming Dax Harwood his wrestler of the year so far, and arguing that his recent singles match with Harwood was probably the most perfect match he’s ever had.
FTR currently hold both the AAA and ROH Tag Team Championships.
