CM Punk Says There’s ‘Potential’ In AEW Team With Bryan Danielson

CM Punk has named Bryan Danielson the star he wants to team with to challenge for the AEW World Tag Team Championship.

On AEW Unrestricted, CM Punk recalled plans for him and the American Dragon to tag together in Ring of Honor, before he ultimately signed with WWE.

Believing there’s still potential in a Punk-Danielson tandem, Punk said:

“I think there’s a lot of good answers to that question, but selfishly I want to tag with Bryan Danielson. I don’t know if anybody’s ever spoken about this before, but before I left Ring of Honor for WWE – what’s next for CM Punk after winning the title and all that stuff – and there was a thing that we were kicking around with maybe me and the old ‘American Dragon’ tagging up and just, black boots, black trunks, and just kinda like a Bockwinkel/Stevens for a new era. And of course we were both like, ‘Yeah, that sounds like something we could really sink our teeth into. So I still think there’s potential to that.”

Penta El Zero M & Rey Fenix of The Lucha Brothers currently hold the AEW Tag Team Titles. CM Punk previously revealed that he would be interested in teaming with Danielson to take on the champions under a unique stipulation.
