Hall Of Famer Adamantly Against WWE Bringing In CM Punk For WrestleMania Match With Steve Austin WWE

With much talk of CM Punk’s next move, there’s been a suggestion that he could return to WWE, especially with the ‘all hands on deck’ build-up to WrestleMania.

Reports have suggested there’s been a softening of the anti-Punk stance from WWE Chief Content Office Paul Levesque (Triple H) in particular, but there are still said to be people in WWE who “absolute do not want” Punk there.

The latest voice to discuss CM Punk in WWE has been WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.

Speaking on his To Be The Man podcast, Flair discussed what he envisions happening if CM Punk were to be given a main event WrestleMania spot, saying:

“But I mean, come on, I don’t mean this bad, but CM Punk just can’t act like he acts in one company and go to the other and act like that and come over and expect to be in main events.

“If he was in a main event at WrestleMania there would be a riot in the locker room.

“Think about it, he didn’t leave on good terms.

“He’s not leaving the other place on good terms.”

The thought of a WrestleMania main event featuring CM Punk vs Steve Austin also caused Flair some concern with the wrestling legend explaining:

“I mean, it’s not about his ability.

“You know, I can’t, even I can’t fathom it, I mean, even entertain bringing a guy in – that will be putting him ahead of Styles, Orton?

“I mean, you could have Steve wrestle either one of those guys, if Steve can work.

“If his neck is okay, Steve is working full.”

With far more worthwhile options, in Flair’s opinion, as Steve Austin’s opponent, he concluded:

“I mean, you know, I mean, you’d have guys jumping off the roof if they brought Punk in there and threw him in the main event at WrestleMania.”

It remains to be seen whether CM Punk will return to wrestling, let alone WWE, with Punk still working through issues with his AEW status.
