CM Punk has vacated the AEW World Championship on tonight’s episode of AEW Rampage.
Punk came to the ring and said that he doesn’t want to leave people feeling disappointed when he steps into the ring.
Punk then announced that he was injured and will need surgery, and that he will come back from the injury, and it is just a bump in the road.
Punk then said that he didn’t want to hold the company up, as there is a long list of names who could be champion.
There was some confusion as to whether he had actually vacated the title due to the wording of his promo, but Chris Jericho explicitly stated on commentary that Punk has indeed relinquished the title.
