AEW President Tony Khan took to Twitter earlier today, to announce what match will be opening tonight’s episode of AEW Rampage.
Taking to Twitter, Khan revealed that the match between CM Punk & Matt Sydal will be opening tonight’s show, and revealed that the match will be commercial free. He said:
Thank you to you great wrestling fans who’ve supported @AEW on TNT for over 2 years now, & because of you fans & your support, we’re opening tonight’s LIVE #AEWRampage with @CMPunk (3-0 #AEW record) vs. @MattSydal (21-9 #AEW record), AND that match will be commercial free on TNT!
The opening 30 minutes of tonight’s show will go head-to-head with the final 30 minutes of SmackDown, which will reportedly also be commercial free.
Tony Khan has been rather vocal, welcoming the competition from WWE ahead of tonight’s head-to-head.
WWE SmackDown’s champion, Roman Reigns, recently made comments regarding CM Punk and how he sees his current run which have caused a lot of controversy.
