CM Punk Addresses Fans Saying He Stole The Undisputed WWE Championship From Sami Zayn

CM Punk has responded to claims that he stole the Undisputed WWE Championship from Sami Zayn on the July 6 edition of Raw.

With Sami Zayn defeating Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER to win the Undisputed WWE Title on the June 27 Night of Champions PLE, many fans were happy to see the star win his first world title with the company.

Zayn’s title reign didn’t last long, with CM Punk returning on last week’s Raw episode to replace Cody Rhodes in the scheduled WWE Championship match.

With CM Punk winning and ending Zayn’s first WWE world title reign after just nine days, there has been a lot of talk about whether it was the right decision to have the Canadian star have such a short reign.

With some fans – and Becky Lynch – believing that Sami Zayn was robbed, CM Punk addressed his title win on What’s Your Story with Steph McMahon.

After Stephanie McMahon asked for Punk’s opinion on the idea that the veteran came back to steal the championship from Sami Zayn, Punk responded in a tongue-in-cheek way to those presenting him as the veteran and Sami Zayn as the youngster, saying:

“Oh, I won the title, clean. I beat that 41 year old youngster fair and square in the middle of the ring.”

Sami Zayn doesn’t currently have a rematch scheduled, with Cody Rhodes now set to challenge for Punk’s gold at SummerSlam.

It will be interesting to see how WWE handles Sami Zayn moving forward. While it would be great to see Zayn remain in the main event picture, recent reports have indicated that WWE doesn’t see Zayn as a “money player.”
