CM Punk Calls For Match Against Current WWE Champion WWE

CM Punk has his eyes set on a singles match against a current WWE Champion despite being on separate brands.

Having crossed paths at Survivor Series: WarGames in November 2024, Punk has expressed his interest in going one-on-one with Jacob Fatu.

Fatu is the current United States Champion and will defend the title at WWE Backlash on May 10 against Damian Priest, LA Knight and Drew McIntyre.

Speaking to Netflix Tudum, CM Punk spoke about the men’s roster, turning his attention to Fatu, saying:

“I like watching Gunther compete. I hate Dominik Mysterio, that’s neither here nor there.

“Guys I want to work with — Jacob Fatu. Got a little taste at WarGames, but one-on-one stuff is my bread and butter, (there’s) more pressure that way…

“Finn Bálor is fantastic. I selfishly want to lock back up with Rey Mysterio, teach him a lesson for having such a brat kid.”

Punk’s animosity towards Dominik Mysterio saw tease a potential match against the younger star, who is now WWE Intercontinental Champion after WrestleMania 41.

He would reflect upon the standard of the women’s roster in WWE, revealing Liv Morgan has his 2024 MVP, stating:

“The women are carrying the show a lot of times. I think Rhea Ripley is a Superstar. Liv Morgan had an MVP year (in 2024).”

Morgan is currently absent from WWE television, having been cast in a major movie project that is currently in production.

Having recently main-evented night one of WrestleMania 41, CM Punk has recently stated that he’s going to have to main-event night two for “people that move the goalposts.”
