CM Punk appeared at tonight’s WWE Money in the Bank premium live event and caused a failed contract cash-in.
With the World Heavyweight Championship match between Seth Rollins and champion Damian Priest underway, both men were keeping their eyes peeled for Drew McIntyre.
After McIntyre won the WWE Money in the Bank briefcase earlier in the night and previously vowed to cash it in at Money in the Bank itself, he made good on his word.
Adding himself to the field mid-match, the match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship became a triple threat – Rollins vs Priest vs McIntyre.
However, as McIntyre seemed as though he was poised to take over and score the victory, CM Punk flew in from out of nowhere.
Since there are no disqualifications a triple threat match, Punk fought with Drew including choking him with a cord and hitting him with the title belt.
After an assault on Drew McIntyre, he would go on to continue to hold the belt and sit on top of the commentary desk to watch the finish of the match in the ring.
Michael Cole even shouted on commentary, “Phil what are you doing, Phil?”
Damian Priest hit a South of Heaven on Drew McIntyre, meaning CM Punk had cost Drew McIntyre the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for a third time.
Damian Priest will go on to face GUNTHER at WWE SummerSlam in a title bout, providing he’s still champion by then.
Due to the ‘gentleman’s agreement’ stipulation that was agreed upon by Rollins and Priest, Rollins will not be able to face Damian Priest for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship again – collateral damage caused by Punk wanting to get back at McIntyre.
Surely incensing both Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre, CM Punk was pleased with himself until Rollins began approaching irate.
After he previously mentioned being longtime friends with Rollins, Corey Graves would encourage Rollins to not attack as CM Punk stood atop the commentary desk, staring daggers through both Rollins and McIntyre.
