‘He Was My Best Friend’: WWE Star Addresses Former Partnership With CM Punk WWE

Paul Heyman has addressed his previous partnership with current WWE World Heavyweight Championship CM Punk.

While many WWE stars have been Paul Heyman Guys over the years, many fans’ favourite wrestler-manager duo was Heyman with CM Punk.

Speaking with WWE Games, Paul Heyman noted that he believes he elevated Punk to being the Best in the World, stating:

“When CM Punk and Paul Heyman paired up on camera together, did I know it would be iconic, or just another day in the office?

“I don’t do another day in the office. Everything I touch is special, or I don’t bother with it. I elevated CM Punk from being the darling of the indies, to being the best in the world.”

Recalling CM Punk’s 434-day reign with the WWE Championship under his management, Heyman continued:

“Whose idea was it to carry the WWE Championship for CM Punk like it was a child? It was our child, and I’m not the one who gave it up to be adopted by The Rock.”

“Would I say CM Punk brought out a different side of Paul Heyman? CM Punk was my best friend in the world, of course CM Punk brought out a different side of Paul Heyman.

“I would hope that he would do so, otherwise he shouldn’t be bestowed with the honor of being called the Best in the World.”

Paul Heyman notably accompanied CM Punk to the ring for the main event of WrestleMania 41 Saturday, against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.

The show ended with Heyman betraying both Punk and Roman Reigns to allow Seth Rollins to win the match, leading to the duo starting The Vision.

CM Punk and Roman Reigns will face off in the main event of WrestleMania 42 this April, with Punk’s World Heavyweight Championship on the line.

With Paul Heyman’s history with both men, it would make sense to see the Advocate/Wiseman/Special Counsel/Oracle play a role in the closing moments of this bout.
