A top WWE star has commented on retirement plans, following John Cena and AJ Styles’ in-ring careers ending.
John Cena and AJ Styles’ retirements provided an interesting contrast, with Cena stepping away after a year-long retirement tour in December 2025, and Styles losing a career-threatening match to GUNTHER at January’s Royal Rumble.
CM Punk was asked about his own retirement plans during his appearance on the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast.
Believing that he won’t be stepping away from the ring anytime soon, Punk said:
“I really don’t know (if he’ll have a full retirement tour). I think it’s big in Japanese culture and wrestling, the retirement tour. They’ve done that over there for many, many years, it was just newer to Western wrestling fans.
“John Cena did it and I thought it was brilliant, say, this is the last time you’re going to come see me, you’re going to get to see me put my boots on and wrestle, appear or whatever.
“With me, I really don’t know. I almost don’t like talking about it because I don’t think it’s going to be anytime soon.
“The way our business is, I like to keep some things shrouded in secrecy and mystery. We’ll have to wait and see.
“I’m just trying to keep myself in one piece because I feel like I’m on the run of my life. I feel I’m doing the best work I’ve ever done. Why would I want to step away from that now?”
