The world’s oldest wrestling company is returning for their 87th Anniversary show. Announced earlier today on Twitter, CMLL will be holding the event at Arena Mexico on September 25. There will be no fans in attendance. However, the event will be streamed live on Ticketmaster Live.
No card has been announced for the show but the event is typically CMLL’s biggest event of the year. However, they did say fans will get to choose who challenges for the respective championships.
Since 1933, the promotion has been the biggest wrestling company in Mexico.
Last year’s event featured a main event of Ultimo Guerrero defeating Negro Casas in a hair vs. hair steel cage match. The match also featured Barbaro Cavernario, Big Daddy, Ciber the Main Man, Gilbert el Boricua and Volador Jr. It may sound strange but this is normal procedure for Lucha Libre.
These events often feature main events with hair vs. hair or hair vs. mask rules. It is considered one of the biggest things of the year in Lucha Libre, although having no fans in attendance will likely cause people involved to reconsider losing their hair or mask. We will have to wait and see.
