AEW executive vice president and TNT Title tournament finalist Cody has taken to Twitter to reveal who he thinks could be the ‘next big thing’ in AEW.
When posed the question by a fan, the ‘American Nightmare’ replied:
Might be a lot of those, the talent pool in wrestling is so rich atm
Statlander & Wardlow seem to be on the verge of special stuff
If they do the work, sky is the limit
Statlander is currently ranked #2 in AEW’s women’s division with a 2-3 record for the year. She unsuccessfully challenged Nyla Rose for the promotion’s Women’s Title at the Revolution pay-per-view in February.
Wardlow, on the other hand, has mainly only been a background feature as MJF’s bodyguard, with his only notable match being a loss to Cody himself in a steel cage match on Dynamite.
Some may be surprised to see those names instead of the likes of MJF, Allin and Guevara, but it could actually be argued that they are already some of the promotion’s top names and have already broken out, unlike the likes of Wardlow and others.
Be sure to let us know if you agree with Cody’s assessment, or if you think there’s anyone he missed of who you think could break out in AEW in the future.
