Cody Promises January Announcement Will Be “Bigger Than Anyone Expects”

During a meet and greet in Australia, Cody Rhodes was asked about the recent news surrounding All Elite Wrestling and he had some very interesting comments about the subject indeed.

Recently,  trademarks were filed by a Jacksonville Jaguars co-owner, Tony Khan including the name All Elite Wrestling. According to Dave Meltzer and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cody’s responded “wait for January as an announcement will be made”, which he said would be “bigger than anyone thinks.”

There is tremendous speculation about where the group known as The Elite will wind up in 2019. Following on from the remarkable success of All In, a new promotion could change the wrestling landscape in 2019. This is especially true considering the free agent pool that is developing. Add in a financial backer like Tony Khan, the possibilities are amazing.

Those of you who have been watching Being the Elite will be familiar with the ongoing story of Cody being possessed by a WWE demon. We’ve also seen letters implied to have come from Triple H and Stephanie inviting the cast to come to WWE or NXT. However, in the most recent episode, Cody was exorcised of his WWE demon. Was it symbolic? Maybe.

In today’s world, successful wrestling promotions have to be on TV. It might be streaming, cable, or something else, but TV is a huge deal. Huge enough to be a part of the January announcement? Who knows at this stage. The group are keeping their cards close to their chests.

Given what Cody, The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Marty Scurll and Hangman Page have done so far, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit for confirmation of a TV deal to be included in the announcement. One thing is for sure, Cody has developed a trust with his fans and I’m sure whatever is planned, will, indeed, be bigger than anyone expected.
