Former WWE creative name Freddie Prinze Jr has criticized WWE’s booking of Cody Rhodes, arguing that they’re ‘killing the poor guy’.

Cody Rhodes had a ton of momentum heading into WrestleMania 39, with a large portion of the fanbase expecting to see the Royal Rumble winner dethrone Roman Reigns.

To the surprise and disappointment of some, Reigns defeated Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 39 Sunday to retain his WWE Undisputed Universal Title.

The following night on Raw, Rhodes was attacked by Brock Lesnar, who beat the former AEW EVP down instead of teaming with him.

Speaking on Wrestling with Freddie, Prinze Jr argued that Rhodes needs to defeat Lesnar at Backlash.

Believing that WWE is killing Rhodes’ momentum, Prinze Jr said:

“Oh, they’re just killing poor Cody. Just killing the poor guy.

“I mean, look, if he gets to go over Brock Lesnar in Puerto Rico at Backlash, then okay.

“Then you’re saving it because he’s beating Brock Lesnar, and then you let him go after Roman again.”

Cody Rhodes will hit a huge career milestone with his next match, which you can read more about right here.
