Cody Rhodes Denies Rumour Regarding His WWE Return WWE

It looks like Cody Rhodes is having a pretty good time now that he’s back in WWE and is being positioned as the big babyface he always dreamed of being in AEW.

Rhodes made his return at WrestleMania 38, where he defeated Seth Rollins to a huge reception from the fans in attendance.

However, prior to his WrestleMania return, there were several rumours that he might be brought back sooner than WrestleMania, as WWE were taping Raw in AEW’s spiritual home of Jacksonville, Florida.

Speaking on the Out of Character Podcast with Ryan Satin, Rhodes denied this was ever the plan. He said:

“As far as my understanding goes, the plan was always WrestleMania,” Rhodes said. “Nothing was ever considered. At one point, I saw people talking about [debuting in] Jacksonville [on Monday Night RAW] and that was a no. Again, it’s not about leaving, it was about returning and the place to do it was at the Showcase of the Immortals, at the biggest stage there is in what we do, undisputed is WrestleMania.

“And there was a lot of synergy and love over the fact that it was Dallas, Texas, and that was where I had my last WrestleMania with the ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship.”

Following on from his victory at WrestleMania, Cody has continued to feud with Seth Rollins, and will be facing him once again at WrestleMania Backlash on May 8.

Cody Rhodes has made secret of the fact he wants to win the WWE Championship, so another victory over Rollins could certainly build to a title match with current champion Roman Reigns.
