Cody Rhodes Recalls Former WWE Star Refusing To Associate With Him On Screen

Cody Rhodes is currently on top of the WWE landscape, so it’s hard to imagine now that anyone would associate with him on screen, but that was the case not too long ago.

Cody recently spoke about his friendship with former WWE star Matt Cardona (Zack Ryder) to Good Karma Wrestling, and how he hopes to see him return to WWE.

Cody then went on to talk about a meeting that Cardona had ahead of his one AEW appearance, where he said that he didn’t want to be associated with Rhodes on screen.

Cody explained:

“I have this story about Matt which I’m going to tell eventually about watching his first meeting with a certain member of management somewhere and how he tanked this meeting.

“Right in front of me. And the one big line he hit in the meeting, that I’ll never forget. This is one of my real-life friends. He said, ‘I just want to make it clear; I’m never putting on a Nightmare Family jacket or associating myself with him on-screen.’ I got you the meeting, [then you throw me] under the bus right away.”

Cardona and Cody Rhodes teamed up on AEW Dynamite back on July 30, 2020, where they defeated John Silver and Alex Reynolds of Dark Order.
