AEW
Former AEW EVP has shot down a rumor about his AEW exit, making an interesting claim about his time with the company.
Towards the end of Cody Rhodes AEW tenure, audiences began to sour on the American Nightmare. With Rhodes being booed in every match, many speculated that a heel turn was coming.
Rhodes always said that he wouldn’t turn heel in AEW, and the star appears to have kept his word.
Cody and Brandi Rhodes left AEW in February, before Cody made a WWE return at WrestleMania 38 in April.
Rhodes recently noted that he left the promotion for ‘a personal issue‘. On Twitter, a user asked Rhodes if this issue was related to his mixed fan reaction.
The former AEW EVP claimed that he was actually a heel, and that AEW’s fans were amazing.
Cody replied:
Ha no – I was a heel, the fans were amazing. It ain’t ever on the fans.
Cody Rhodes hasn’t wrestled since defeating Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell with a torn pectoral muscle.
The star is currently recovering from surgery to fix this torn muscle.
The popular star recently opened up about his physical therapy, which you can read about right here.
Ha no – I was a heel, the fans were amazing. It ain’t ever on the fans.
