AEW star and EVP Cody Rhodes has responded to a fan today asking about NXT using the “Great American Bash” name that his father created.
Responding to a fan on Twitter who said he felt that WWE should have given Cody and his brother, Dustin Rhodes, the Great American Bash name, Cody Tweeted:
“Business is business. They have the rights to many of Dusty’s greatest creations. My hope is that they do them justice and I will never be bitter about his legacy being honored and a whole new generation seeing he was a genius w/lasting concepts.”
The rights to most WCW event names are owned by WWE, including Starrcade and War Games. AEW previously used Bash at the Beach but WWE filed to trademark the name a few months ago.
NXT Great American Bash airs live tonight at 8PM EST/1AM BST on USA Network or BT Sport in the United Kingdom.
