Cody Rhodes has heaped praise on Grammy-winning musical artist Jelly Roll following his crossover appearances in WWE.
Along with other success stories like Bad Bunny, IShowSpeed and Lil Yachty, Jelly Roll has put himself in the conversation as one of WWE’s best celebrity crossovers in recent years.
The country star has demonstrated his fandom of WWE and commitment to wrestling, losing considerable weight as he trained to make his in-ring debut at SummerSlam 2025, with Triple H revealing that Jelly based himself at the Performance Center in Orlando in between his music tours.
After his well received debut performance – teaming with Randy Orton against Logan Paul & Drew McIntyre – Jelly returned to WWE TV for another match in March, pinning Kit Wilson to pick up his first win in his debut singles match in WWE.
Jelly would then play a role in Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton’s WrestleMania 42 Undisputed WWE Championship feud, with the 41-year-old assisting “The American Nightmare” by counteracting the presence of Pat McAfee, who was in Orton’s corner.
Speaking on the latest episode of What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes, Cody heaped praise on Jelly after asking his guest Jimmy Hart if he had ran into either him or rapper Lil Yachty backstage in WWE.
Jimmy Hart said he hadn’t met Jelly Roll, but did recall having an interaction with Yachty at WrestleMania:
“I saw Lil Yachty, I saw him at WrestleMania after the match with him and I told him, I said, ‘I love the gimmick you got going on.’ I said, ‘Y’all work so good together.’ He said, ‘Thanks for saying that.’”

Cody then told Hart that Jelly Roll is “right up his alley,” describing him as “one of the boys”:
“He’s right up your alley, in a sense of wrestler’s dream. Loves this. Wants to be here. Wants to advance it. To the point where sometimes we’re not used to that… You would have seen it and go, ‘One of the boys, one of the boys.’ If there was a battle royal he could be in it. He was one of the boys.”

Jelly Roll’s Next WWE Appearance Unknown After Backlash Plans Scrapped
While it’s not known whether the plans were firmly in place or not, it had been reported that Jelly Roll was set to make his third in-ring appearance for WWE at Backlash in Tampa on May 9.
According to the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, a tag team match that would have seen Randy Orton team with Pat McAfee against Rhodes and Jelly Roll was to be a “key match” on the Backlash card, however, those plans wouldn’t come to fruition.
Pat McAfee reportedly “opted out” of further WWE plans after WrestleMania 42, with his and Orton’s brief alliance being ended by “The Viper” when Orton hit him with an RKO during the WrestleMania 42 Night One main event against Rhodes.
It was also reported that Orton is currently dealing with a back injury, as he hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since WrestleMania 42. However, Orton dismissed those claims in a post on social media earlier this week.
