AEW Executive Vice President and onscreen talent Cody Rhodes recently responded to a fan on Twitter, who was critical of the promotion’s success.
The war of words began when the fan responded to a Fite TV tweet advertising All In. The fan claimed that the show was a dark day for the wrestling world, tweeting:
Ah yes, the start of the crime that has been perpetrated on professional wrestling. This birthed the abomination that is AEW. A dark day indeed.
The success of All In definitely proved to Cody and The Elite that there was a demand for high-quality wrestling, inspiring the group to create All Elite Wrestling. Cody clearly didn’t agree that AEW is having a negative impact on the wrestling world.
Replying to the fan, Cody tweeted:
I mean this day bettered the wrestling economy and QOL standards for an entire industry, so no matter which way you shake it…a great day in our history.
(Not unlike the days Dream had those 3 initials on your mask white hot and fans got better wrestling and the boys got rich)
Cody and the fan exchanged several more tweets, with the fan sceptical whether AEW was beneficial to the wrestling world, beyond Rhodes’ friendship circle. Rhodes disputed these claims of nepotism, noting it’s the best time to be a fan.

???
It’s already been seen. Every company has had to up their financial commitment, duration, and QOL elements in their contracts.
Wrestlers and their families like to eat and expand their target audience from 1 promoter to millions of fans.
It’s the best time to be a fan.

It is interesting that the fan called Cody out for not swearing or getting annoyed. Whether the fan was genuinely curious, or had the intention to anger or troll Rhodes, Cody’s ability to remain calm throughout this interaction shows his confidence in the AEW product.
