Cody Rhodes Retires Following Dynamite Loss?

Top AEW star and EVP Cody Rhodes appeared to heavily tease his retirement following his loss to Malakai Black on last night’s (August 4) episode of AEW Dynamite.

The main event was a quick affair, with Black pinning Cody after what used to be called the Black Mass, covering him with a single foot on the chest.

After the match Tony Schiavone came to the ring to interview Cody, who cut an emotional promo on betting on himself after leaving WWE and forming AEW.

Cody finished his promo and began to remove his wrestling boots and leave them in the ring, a traditional sign of retirement, before Malakai Black re-entered the ring and took Cody out with a crutch shot, stealing his boot.

Cody is currently scheduled to film season two of the ‘Go Big Show’ soon, so this angle was shot to write him off television.
