Details have emerged on how Cody Rhodes’ role on the WWE A&E Dusty Rhodes documentary came to be.
Following Cody’s WWE return, his management team released a statement announcing that Cody will be Executive Producing and appearing in the upcoming ‘WWE Biography: Legends’ A&E documentary focusing on his late father, Dusty Rhodes.
Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW President had given both Cody and Dustin Rhodes permission to appear on the documentary when they were both in AEW.
Meltzer said:
“(Cody will be) Executive-Producing the Dusty thing, which, I’m sure he’s gonna love doing that.
“It’s interesting because the A&E bio was doing the Dusty thing already, and Tony Khan had given permission to Dustin and Cody to appear on the WWE documentary for their father, even if they were still with AEW.”
In January, it was reported that Tony Khan was in talks with John Laurinaitis about potentially using certain AEW stars for WWE biographies. AEW announced that Cody was leaving the promotion on February 15.
Cody made his WWE in-ring return during WrestleMania 38 Saturday, revealed to be Seth Rollins’ mystery opponent. Cody has revealed when he started to seriously consider a defection to WWE, which you can read more about right here.
