Cody Rhodes has opened up about the production of the promo with Roman Reigns that was aired on WWE SmackDown.
The promo was part of the September 20 episode of WWE SmackDown and saw the two stars come to an emotional agreement at Georgia Tech, as can be seen below this news story.
As previously noted, the pair have a home there, with Roman Reigns describing his time as a collegiate athlete at Georgia Tech and calling Atlanta “his city”, while Rhodes conceded that it might be Reigns’ field but Atlanta was “his home”.
During an interview with Justin Barrasso for Undisputed, Rhodes opened up about the promo, revealing that neither he or Reigns rehearsed or even talked before it was shot:
“I wish people could have been there on the ground. To see how real our business can get.
“Never spoke–just stood on opposite sides of the field and walked towards each other, neither with knowledge of what the other would say and just going straight through.”
Rhodes would give credit to the people behind the segment, going on to say:
“Hats off to Mr. Heyman, JB (Jeremy Borash), and Rob Fee for putting it in such a stylized manner.
“Reminded me of when World Class [Championship Wrestling] used to have credits roll after.”
Borash has previously been named as the man behind the change in backstage segments on WWE Raw and SmackDown following the departure of Kevin Dunn.
Rob Fee was appointed WWE Director of Character Development earlier this year, having previously been Director of Long Term Creative.
Rhodes and Reigns team together to face The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu) at WWE Bad Blood on October 5, 2024.
Reigns is set to make a number of WWE SmackDown appearances over the coming months having returned at SummerSlam on August 3.
