Cody Rhodes made news at the beginning of the year, when it was announced by himself and AEW that he would be leaving his role as an executive vice president of the company, and departing the company due to his contract expiring.
Cody then returned to WWE, arriving as Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins’ mystery opponent on night one of WrestleMania 38 in Dallas.
Shortly before Cody left AEW, CM Punk made his debut for AEW at the First Dance. He now appears to be done with the company just a year later, due to him unloading on the remaining EVPs during the post AEW All Out media scrum, before he, Ace Steel and the Elite were involved in a backstage altercation.
A fan shared a photo of Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks to Twitter, reflecting on their time together in AEW, and how they ‘changed the world’.
When another fan asked why Cody left, he responded:
I didn’t leave because of the Bucks/Kenny. I’m forever bonded to those men over what we created and I remain very proud of it, and I didn’t leave because of/or have issues with Punk. We got along. Not money, not booking, just a personal issue and my wanting to go for the big one.
The investigation into the AEW All Out media scrum altercation has come to an end, hence the video that aired hyping up the Elite’s return on this week’s AEW Dynamite show.
