Cody Rhodes Says Sammy Guevara Will Return To AEW

Last week, videos resurfaced of some rather controversial comments made by Sammy Guevara on a podcast in 2016 regarding WWE SmackDown star Sasha Banks.

While Sammy apologised both privately and publicly to Banks, AEW announced later that day that the had suspended the Inner Circle member without pay. They announced that during this period, his salary will be going to the Women’s Center of Jacksonville.

AEW released the following statement last week, announcing that they had suspended Sammy and that he would be attending sensitivity training:

“AEW insists on doing our part to create a world of understanding and respect for humankind. We therefore strongly condemn the extremely offensive and hurtful words of Sammy Guevara. As such, effective immediately, Sammy is suspended without pay until further notice. Sammy has agreed to undergo extensive sensitivity training and, upon completion, his future status within the company will be re-evaluated.

During his suspension, his salary will be donated to the Women’s Center of Jacksonville.”

With the line “his future status within the company will be re-evaluated”, some thought that AEW were going to eventually release the Spanish God.

However, it appears as if that won’t be the case, as AEW Executive Vice President Cody has confirmed on Twitter that Guevara will eventually make a return to the company:

“Sammy will return. And he will be a better professional wrestler, and a better man when he does.”

While it seems like he will return eventually, there is no word on when we can next expect to see Guevara on our TVs.
