Songs Which Inspired Cody Rhodes Kingdom WWE Entrance Music Confirmed WWE

The inspirations behind the entrance music used by Cody Rhodes in WWE have been revealed by Justin Call of Downstait.

Following his departure from WWE in 2016, Downstait reached out to Cody Rhodes to create a new theme for the star.

That theme would be “Kingdom” and go on to be the music he used on the independent scene, as well as in ROH, NJPW, AEW and secured for his return to WWE in 2022.

During a recent appearance on Ropes N Riffs, Justin Call of Downstait revealed the inspirations for the theme, saying:

“Throne by Bring Me the Horizon was one of the ones that Cody was like ‘I really like the message of this song, and that’s what I want to do with the lyrics for this.’

“When we were coming up with the music, I really wanted something to drive like Decode from Paramore. We have a drum pattern that’s a little similar to that, but it drives through that chorus really well.”

‘Throne’ was a track on Bring Me the Horizon’s 2015 album “That’s The Spirit”, while ‘Decode’ is a track from the 2008 movie Twilight.

Call would also reveal that they didn’t expect ‘Kingdom’ to be as big as it would become when they were creating it, explaining:

“No, I didn’t see it going as far as it’s gone. I’ve always believed in Cody, but this is just nuts to see how far that song has spread because of him.

“This was the first time that we got to like, not have our hand held, because everything with WWE before then was Jim Johnston’s baby.

“He would give you a skeleton and you’d have to make it your own, but he had a lot to do with the character development side of that. He would have all the lyrics too, so there wasn’t a lot of wiggle room to change anything when it came to that. But with this music, it was about us making it our own.

“The way we approached Kingdom was like, ‘okay, we just want to make a good song first before an entrance theme.’ We approached it like ‘let’s make a single, let’s make a really good song.'”

With themes for The Miz and Dolph Ziggler being products of their collaboration, Call also revealed that Alex Riley’s entrance music was created over a weekend.
