Cody Rhodes has shared a major update regarding a potential heel turn in WWE.
With The American Nightmare booking his spot in the King of the Ring final on last night’s Raw, a rematch with WWE’s top heel John Cena could soon be on the cards should he topple Randy Orton at Night of Champions.
While Rhodes remains WWE’s number one babyface star, his feud with Cena has seen him receive audible boos from a portion of the crowd for the first time since returning to the company in 2022.
Rhodes was asked if he was tired of being the “nice guy” during a new interview with Kay Adams, which led to the former WWE Champion admitting that his time as a babyface is likely coming to its end.
“I don’t get tired of it (being a nice guy)… I do think we’re probably at the tail end of it though. Because there’s only so much someone can like you.
“I would love to do it until the end of my career… At a certain point they wanna see somebody else I get that and that’s where you have to change as a character.”

Cody was then questioned about the possible timeline for a heel turn, which led to The Rock’s name being brought up, specifically the “Final Boss'” reported desire for Rhodes to turn heel heading into WrestleMania 41.
Rhodes continued:
“I think you have a good solid year, maybe even three years because I am not changing until I’m changed if that makes any sense.
“If The Rock had it his way I would’ve been changed already. He sees something maybe I don’t see and that’s a very smart individual so maybe I follow his lead.”

It was previously reported that “people around Cody Rhodes” were against The Rock’s pitch to turn him heel heading into WrestleMania 41, with WWE having plans in place for The American Nightmare as a babyface throughout the rest of 2025.
We will provide more updates on a potential Cody Rhodes heel turn if more news becomes available.
Cody Rhodes says he feels like he's at the "tail end" of his babyface run, but if The Rock had his way then his character would have already "changed":
