Cody Rhodes Receives Threat Over WWE’s Japan Return

Cody Rhodes Receives Threat Over WWE’s Japan Return WWE

WWE return to Japan for the first time in five years this summer and Cody Rhodes will be part of the upcoming tour.

As reported on Monday, May 21, 2024, the WWE tour of Japan will see them deliver three shows between July 25 and July 27, 2024.

Stars advertised for the three shows are Cody Rhodes, Shinsuke Nakamura, Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, IYO SKY and The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane).

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was the subject of a very direct tweet from NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd, who tweeted:

Kidd shared a short clip from a WCPW match in April 2017 that can be seen below this news story.

In the clip, Kidd can be seen pinning Cody Rhodes to win the WCPW Internet Championship in a three-way match that also featured Joe Hendry.

At the time, Cody Rhodes was a member of Bullet Club in NJPW, something that Kidd reflected upon during the “Can You Name Ever Bullet Club Member? (featuring Bullet Club!)” partsFUNknown video (that can be seen below this news story), saying:

“Cody Rhodes, yeah? I beat you when I was twenty years old and chubby.

“Imagine if you stood in the ring with me now, you’d be finished.”

Kidd defeated Eddie Kingston to become the NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion at Resurgence on May 11, 2024.

The match would see Kingston suffer a leg injury that is likely to lead to him missing the rest of 2024.
