Cody Rhodes New WWE Nickname Revealed

Cody Rhodes New WWE Nickname Revealed WWE

A new nickname for WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has been confirmed, with new merchandise released for the top star.

Rhodes is preparing for a major match at WrestleMania 41, with the WWE Champion set to defend his gold against 16-time world champion John Cena.

While this match was already set to be big, with Cena fighting for a record 17th world title, hostilities were elevated after Cena attacked Rhodes at Elimination Chamber.

The duo came face to face once again on the March 17 Raw episode, during which Cody Rhodes told his WrestleMania 41 opponent to make sure the real John Cena turns up to the Show of Shows.

With Rhodes vowing to end Cena’s retirement tour early, the WWE Champion has now adopted the nickname ‘Captain’, with a Captain Collection of Cody Rhodes WWE merchandise being released.

You can view photos of the merch below.

Referencing Rhodes’ rivalry with John Cena, the following description accompanied the t-shirt listing on WWE Shop:

Even after being ruthlessly attacked by John Cena at Elimination Chamber 2025, Cody Rhodes was willing to hear his reasoning. Unfortunately for Cena, Rhodes found his explanation pitiful and has the responsibility of putting down a childhood hero gone rogue.

Show that you believe Cody Rhodes is the captain now by snagging this Captain Badge T-Shirt. One look at the stylized graphic on this tee lets the WWE Universe know you’re proudly backing the man fit to carry the torch.

While he has had several dark matches since, Rhodes last wrestled on WWE TV during the February 7 SmackDown episode, teaming with Jey Uso to defeat Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga.

John Cena has also teased a big change for his own WWE presentation, which you can read more about right here.
