Cody Rhodes Reflects On Being ‘Embarrassed & Dejected’ About WWE Torn Pec Match WWE

June 5, 2022 saw Cody Rhodes take on Seth Rollins in a Hell in a Cell match at the WWE PLE of the same name.

Rhodes would be victorious in the match, but it’s probably best remembered as the match that the American Nightmare fought with a very bruised, torn pec.

The match was awarded five stars by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, marking the first time a WWE match had received the grade since 2011.

For those wanting to revisit the match, it can be seen, in full, below this news story.

Cody Rhodes commented on a clip of the start of the match that featured him removing his jacket to expose the bruising, replying:

“I didn’t win this match, Chicago won it for me.

“I was so embarrassed and dejected, nothing in the eyes and just enough left in the tank for one dance.

“Just the clips are wild enough for me.”

In the wake of the match, Corey Graves stated that he considered it “a perfect sports entertainment story.

Rhodes would undergo surgery after the match and wouldn’t return until the 2023 Royal Rumble.
