Former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion and current IMPACT star Nick Aldis has revealed that Cody Rhodes reached out to him after returning to WWE.
After leaving WWE in 2016, Rhodes reinvented himself, changing his brand completely ahead of his WWE comeback in April 2022.
One of Rhodes’ biggest matches outside of WWE saw him defeat Nick Aldis for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title at All In 2018.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Aldis noted that following Rhodes’ WWE return, the American Nightmare messaged him to show his appreciation for their rivalry:
“When Cody (Rhodes) came back to WWE, he sent me a very nice message after his WrestleMania return, just sort of acknowledging that our match really sort of helped set that journey for him and I appreciated that, and I’m proud of him and I’m proud of what we did together and what I’m most proud of is the fact that he’s obviously gone on to do so much and our journeys sort of went in different directions.
“But to this day, every day on social media, there’s somebody saying that they’re clamoring for that third match.
“That’s a huge compliment and man, there’s a lot of things that you sort of think about and you go, well, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility but at the same time, you don’t wanna speak it into existence for fear of it not happening.
“But, crazier things have happened in the last few years of this business so again, like I was saying before, it goes to what I was saying about just sort of staying open and sticking to your principles and just being consistent with your quality and your approach and your professionalism and knowing that good things will come.
