There have been a number of rumours doing the rounds regarding the WWE SummerSlam status of Brock Lesnar, and we now seem to have the answer.
One rumour pointed towards Lesnar challenging Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship, while another had Lesnar off the show entirely.
Dave Meltzer reports in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the latter of those is correct and Brock Lesnar is not scheduled to be at SummerSlam next month.
It was noted that one of the reasons he put over McIntyre so strongly at WrestleMania was because he wasn’t due to be coming back anytime soon.
The previous rumours had suggested one of the reasons why he’s not set to appear or for a match could be that WWE doesn’t want to waste any of his contracted dates on shows without fans, but that wasn’t mentioned by Meltzer in this report.
As far as McIntyre goes, the most likely direction looks to be a WWE Title defence against Randy Orton, something we exclusively reported was planned just over a week ago.
