SANADA, Rocky Romero and Chase Owens are the most recent New Japan Pro Wrestling stars to appear in the news. New Japan Pro Wrestling has had a turbulent few days since Wrestle Kingdom 13. Since January 4th, Kenny Omega, KUSHIDA, and Takashi Iizuka have all announced their departures from the organization.
SANADA is reportedly the latest New Japan star to draw interest from the WWE. Joe Lanza of the Voices of Wrestling podcast reported this information of the podcast’s Patreon page. It is not currently known what stage SANADA’s contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling is in. SANADA is currently one half of the IWGP Tag Team Champions alongside his stablemate EVIL.
Rocky Romero and Chase Owens have announced that they have re-signed with New Japan. Romero has been with New Japan since 2010 and is a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. Romero is also a former eight-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, holding titles with Davey Richards, Alex Koslov, and Beretta. Now, Romero splits time as a commentator, wrestler, and manager of Roppongi 3K (SHO & YOH).

Chase Owens also tweeted that he has re-signed with the company. The deal is reportedly a one-year contract, which is not uncommon in New Japan. Owens is a member of the Bullet Club and reunited with the BC OGs at New Years Dash. Chase Owens and Yujiro Takahashi were aligned with The Elite following the faction’s split last summer and remained that way until Wrestle Kingdom 13. There Owens and Takahashi had words with Marty Scurll and Hangman Page before rejoining the Bullet Club the next day.
Happy to announce I have signed contract with njpw. #packagedrivereveryone2019
