Corey Graves WWE Backstage Issues Update WWE

WWE lead announcer Michael Cole has addressed the recent issues between the company and fellow commentator Corey Graves.

At the start of the year, WWE underwent some shifts to its announce teams, with Michael Cole and Pat McAfee being the new announce team for Raw, and Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett moving to SmackDown.

Corey Graves, who had been Cole’s partner calling SmackDown, was moved to NXT to join the existing team of Vic Joseph and Booker T, so in a sense he’d been ‘demoted’ from the main roster.

When that move was confirmed, Graves took to social media seemingly critical of the decision, saying that he was told he wasn’t famous enough to be involved in the rewards of the hard work he’d put in over the years.

This resulted in Graves being pulled from the next episode of NXT, although he would reappear a week later and has been on the show consistently since then, with Vic Joseph occasionally referencing the situation and jokingly saying things like “are you gonna go on social media again?” when they have disagreements.

On the latest episode of Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Michael Cole commented on Graves’ situation saying:

“That’s a strange situation. I love Corey, love him to death. I still don’t understand all the dynamics of it, I know he sent something out on social media that was pretty critical of the company.

“He tried to explain to everyone that he was trying to generate some interest, and maybe a storyline, I don’t think the company saw it that way.

“So, I think him and the company are working that out. I love Corey to death, he’s an unbelievable commentator. Beside McAfee he’s probably the best partner I’ve ever had.”

Joe Tessitore was absent from the latest episode of SmackDown and was replaced with Vic Joseph, with some fans pointing out that Joseph had apparently been chosen over Graves, although it’s not known exactly why it was Joseph that filled in.
