WWE NXT lead announcer Vic Joseph has commented on the recent issues involving his commentary colleague Corey Graves.
At the start of the year, Graves was moved away from WWE main roster commentary to NXT, joining the already-established pairing of Joseph and Booker T.
Graves posted a tweet insinuating that he wasn’t happy about the decision, and was then absent from the next episode of NXT before he returned the following week.
Joseph has now commented on the situation during an appearance on the Getting Over podcast, saying:
“I think he needed to have a new set of eyes, take a deep breath. Something we’ve always talked about, we used to travel in the car together, was, ‘Hey man, it’d be cool to call the shows together one day’. And I think once he and I had the talk, like, ‘Dude, this is what we’ve always talked about’, he was like, ‘Yeah, you’re right’.
“I always wear a bow tie every WrestleMania – Corey Graves gave me that as a gift at my very first WrestleMania. So we have that personal connection.
“But I think the difficulty for Corey, and I think this is where you start to see that seamless transition, is now he doesn’t have to do as much. Now he can take a deep breath, he can take a step back, and understand that it is three of us. Three unique individuals. Three distinct personalities. For one goal, for one show. And so it’s been getting better each and every week, and it’s only gonna get better.
“All three of us are just stoked to be in New York on Tuesday, Theater at Madison Square Garden, it’s a great card, it’s a great opportunity. And it’s a chance for not only the brand but us as a broadcast team to take that next step together, and start looking at our first WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas.”

Michael Cole recently commented on the Graves situation as well, saying he didn’t really know what was going on but he “loves Corey to death”, calling him an “unbelievable commentator” and saying that Graves is probably the best partner Cole’s ever had other than Pat McAfee.
