Correction On William Regal AEW Contract Status

Correction On William Regal AEW Contract Status AEW

Dave Meltzer has provided a correction regarding William Regal’s AEW contract status following recent discussion on a WWE return.

In a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer discussed the possibility of Regal returning to WWE, stating:

“I would just say that when his contract is up, it wouldn’t surprise me. Tony (Khan) could make him a better offer and all that, but… it is certainly something that has been discussed.”

His contract is not up for a long time. I think it was only a one-year deal. I don’t want to give the date, I was told a date. It was still months away, several months away.”

Whilst Meltzer did state that he thought the contract as only a one-year deal, he has recently tweeted to correct this, writing:

“A correction from last night’s show regarding Regal’s deal. Based on what he said when he signed, his deal signed last spring was for three years.”

This obviously makes an imminent return to WWE much less likely, unless, as Meltzer previously suggested, Tony Khan lets Regal out of his contract.

Regal is, however, involved in the top storyline in AEW right now, having helped MJF beat Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at Full Gear.

Speculation of a potential Regal WWE return was spurred on as Triple H shared a Regal/WarGames tribute video on social media before Survivor Series.
