The court has warned that a number of lawsuits filed by Joey Ryan, real name Joseph Meehan, throughout the past few months could be dismissed.
As per PWInsider, a number of the lawsuits filed by Ryan have been been referred to the Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald and Magistrate Judge, Charles F. Eick under the United States District Court, Central Division of California; Western Division, Los Angeles.
On December 7, the court ordered Ryan to provide reason why the proceedings should not be dismissed for lack of prosecution. This is because there has been a lack of movement in the cases.
In many of the cases, the defendants have not even responded, and for some there isn’t a court record that they’ve been served.
Ryan filed the suits denying allegations that had been made against him during the #SpeakingOut movement and claiming defamation.
Ryan’s attorneys have until December 29 to file pleadings to essentially persuade the court not to dismiss the suits. If the defendants respond before then, that will also prevent a dismissal from happening.
