A current AEW champion’s contract is set to expire soon after recent reports that their contract expired in September.
The contract status of AEW star Dustin Rhodes has been known for a long time now, with Fightful Select reporting last year that Dustin’s contract with the company is set to run through September 2024.
In the past few months, Dustin has now become a double champion in AEW, winning the ROH Tag Team Championship with Sammy Guevara and the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championship with the Von Erichs.
This led many to believe his contract status may have changed.
However, in an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), as of AEW All Out, Dustin’s contract was still set to expire in the Fall.
Dustin signed with AEW back in May 2019 after his WWE contract expired, with him competing against brother Cody Rhodes at AEW’s first pay-per-view, Double or Nothing.
Since then, Cody has left AEW to return to WWE, and has gone on to become WWE Champion, which has long led many to speculate if Dustin would follow in his footsteps.
