Current WWE Champion Praises Recent Rival

A current WWE champion has praised their recent on-screen rival after defeating them to become champion back in April.

On the April 25 episode of SmackDown, Zelina Vega finally captured her first singles championship in her career, when she defeated Chelsea Green to become the second-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion.

Zelina had been feuding with Chelsea for a number of weeks ahead of their title match, with Zelina going on to retain the title one last time against Chelsea at Saturday Night’s Main Event last month.

Following her last defence against Chelsea, Zelina has now spoken about their rivalry over the championship, with her praising her former rival.

Speaking to USA Today about the rivalry, Zelina said of Chelsea:

“She’s always able to take something and run with it.”

Chelsea Green has recently found herself aligned with both Piper Niven and Alba Fyre of the Secret Hervice on SmackDown, while Zelina is seemingly set for an upcoming Women’s United States Championship defence against Giulia.
