A current WWE champion is set to undergo surgery according to a new backstage report.
On Tuesday (June 24) it was reported that Chad Gable was dealing with an “undisclosed injury”, however exact details regarding the manner of it were not known at that time.
In a new update PWInsider Elite (via WrestlingNews.co) has confirmed with multiple sources that Gable is set to undergo shoulder surgery next week after working hurt “for some time”.
The report also revealed that Gable’s run-in with Penta on Monday’s Raw – which saw the Mexican star delivered ‘The Sacrifice’ arm breaker to Gable – was done to write him out of WWE storylines.
Gable’s last match in WWE came on the June 18 edition of WWE Speed (taped on June 17), where Gable, as El Grande Americano successfully defended the WWE Speed Championship against Berto.
2025 has been a very busy year for Gable thus far, featuring regularly on WWE Raw, Speed and even AAA as both himself and Americano.
Saturday, June 7 even saw Gable pull double duty as he challenged El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship at WWE Worlds Collide, and then competed in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match as Americano later in the evening.
We at WrestleTalk wish Chad Gable a safe and successful surgery and healthy recovery.
