It’s being reported that Joe Hennig, most notably known as Curtis Axel in WWE, has officially been hired by WWE as a producer.
Hennig, the son of ‘Mr Perfect’ Curt Hennig, appeared on this past Monday’s Raw as one of several backstage producers who came out to break up a brawl between Cody Rhodes and Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins.
He had been having tryouts as a producer for weeks prior, and it was reported in today’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that he’s officially been hired for the job.
Including developmental, he’d been with WWE since 2007 before he was released on April 30, 2020. On the main roster he’d used the names Michael McGillicutty and Curtis Axel.
Former 205 Live talent Ariya Daivari had also been having tryouts as a producer at the same time as Hennig, and also appeared in the same segment on Raw, but the Observer didn’t say whether he’s officially been hired or not.
We’ll continue to provide updates as we continue to learn more.
