Dakota Kai has reacted after being named among the list of WWE stars that have been released today, May 2, 2025.
Kai is one of five main roster talents to have been let go as of this writing.
Kai, Shayna Baszler, Braun Strowman, Kayden Carter and Katana Chance have all been released.
In response to the news, Kai tweeted the gif of CJ from GTA San Andreas at the start of the game, saying:
“Ah s**t, here we go again.”
Kai had been with WWE since late 2016 after starting her career in Australia and Japan, coming up through the NXT system and starting on the main roster with Damage CTRL at SummerSlam in July 2022. She was actually briefly released in April 2022 before returning at SummerSlam.
She became a two-time NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Raquel Rodriguez, and a two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Damage CTRL teammate IYO SKY.
Kai’s boyfriend NXT star Eddy Thorpe, formerly known as Karl Fredericks, is also one of the names that have been released by the company today.
