Damian Priest On Getting Permission To Use Iconic Move

Current WWE Raw star Damian Priest has detailed how a Hall of Famer gave him permission to use an iconic signature move.

Since his Royal Rumble 2021 debut, Priest has taken Raw by storm. Becoming an ally to famous musician Bad Bunny, Priest is yet to suffer a singles loss since his main-roster call up.

Priest has recently discussed his relationship with “Razor Ramon” Scott Hall. Speaking with Metal Injection, Priest recalled asking Hall if he could pay an homage to the former Intercontinental Champion with his entrance walk.

Hall eventually gave Priest his blessing to use The Razor’s Edge, not before roasting the up-and-comer.

Here is the full quote:

“I definitely picked his brain and I learned some stuff. Like, you know when he’d come out and do that walk? I asked him, ‘Can I use that?’ And he goes, ‘The surfer walk?’ I was like, ‘It has a name?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, cause you’re climbing on the surf board.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, that makes sense!’ And then he was like, ‘You know why I did that?’ I was like, ‘No, it was cool as hell though.’ He was like, ‘Because I was “The Bad Guy” and I didn’t want anybody to touch me so I would walk like that, sideways so they couldn’t reach me.’ And I was like ‘Oh my God!’

“So I do a little modified version, I don’t do it exactly like he did it but he was like, ‘Yeah you can do that,’ and then The Razor’s Edge, the same thing, he was all good about it and then he saw he me do it and the first reaction was, ‘That’s as high as you can pick him up?’ (Laughs) He roasted me, again, in front of Keith Lee (who again, roasted me right after!)

“I made sure from there on out to make sure to do it exactly the way he did it. Then I did it again in another match and he came right up to me, and he’s like, ‘That was a good one.’ So that was cool.”

It was rumored that Priest would make his WrestleMania debut this year, teaming with Bad Bunny to face The Miz and John Morrison.

Instead, a singles match between The Miz and Bad Bunny was made official for WrestleMania 37 night 1. To read about why WWE went with this match instead of the tag match, click here.
